Business Reasoning Test - Joint Verbal & Numerical Critical Reasoning Test

This Business Reasoning Test – Provides a joint Verbal & Numerical Data Report. The test assesses the skills in understanding business information.

The report is fully interpreted and provides an overall test performance result for Business Reasoning along with an individual breakdown of both the verbal & numerical critical reasoning scores. Although verbal and data reasoning skills tend to be correlated, for some individuals, they tend to be stronger on one. Therefore, we have included the results for these two areas separately.

The test looks at the ability of the candidate to accurately assimilate and correctly understand the written business information. It includes understanding business numerical information and being able to do the correct calculations to work out answers. But it also includes the ability to assimilate non-numerical business data as well, such as identifying relationships and understanding the real meaning of data. People at work deal with business information as a whole, so for example, they do not necessarily tackle a numerical problem in isolation. Therefore, our test comprises three realistic sets of business information and there will be a mix of verbal reasoning and numerical reasoning questions within each set. We do NOT present two separate verbal and numerical tests, it is a joint test. As a result, this more accurately reflects real work situations and requirements, providing a comprehensive assessment of the individual’s ability levels.

The skills assessed by this business data test are very important for management and professional roles. Indeed, this test will be most suitable for roles where there is a need to effectively assimilate business information. [Test Information Leaflet]

What's Covered

The report first presents the candidates overall test performance results for business reasoning. This is total test score and therefore covers verbal, numerical, and elements of inductive and deductive reasoning.

Then it goes on to provide information around the two key areas:

    1. Business Verbal Data: How well the candidate has understood the business written information. This is often referred to as verbal critical reasoning.
It looks at the ability of the candidate to accurately assimilate and correctly understand the written business information.
    2. Business Numerical Data: How well the candidate has understood the business data. This is often referred to as numerical critical reasoning.
It includes understanding business numerical information and being able to do the correct calculations to work out answers. But it also includes the ability to assimilate non-numerical business data as well, such as identifying relationships and understanding the real meaning of data.

Assessing elements of deductive and inductive thinking skills

Indeed, both types of questions, whether they are verbal or numerical based, will be assessing the ability to fully understand the business information. Therefore, both sets of questions will include assessing elements of deductive and inductive thinking skills.
