EAWOP Congress 2022 Cancelled

Unfortunately, due to the current increased Covid restrictions the event has had to be cancelled – please see the notification letter from Frederik Anseel, EAWOP President. From everyone here at Quest we hope all remain safe and we look forward to supporting and attending the next event in Katowice in 2023.

EAWOP Congress 2022 Announcement: 

It is with great regret that I must announce that EAWOP Congress 2022 in Glasgow has had to be cancelled.

We have listened carefully to our membership, we have looked at government advice and recognise that as a result of the Omicron variant, there are new and serious implications for travel, but far more importantly, there are potentially very serious implications for the health and wellbeing of our members and congress contributors.

We know that there was huge appetite for a face-to-face event. Over 1300 people were already registered and we are sorry to disappoint those who had enthusiastically invested in their submissions and were looking forward to the event. We waited as long as we could in the hope that the situation would improve and allow us to go ahead but it is clear that this is not possible. Please accept our heartfelt apology that under current circumstances and despite every effort of our hosts, the British Psychological Society, and our team of volunteers, we are no longer able to safely deliver what we believe would have been an exceptional event.

We would like to thank all the people who worked so hard to create an exciting and inspiring congress. This includes our invited speakers and workshop leaders who had put so much into making the EAWOP 2022 programme so stimulating, all those who submitted papers to the event and the many reviewers who helped with decision making. We also thank our sponsors, including the City of Glasgow and the volunteer and professional organisers for the long hours spent developing the congress.

Please bear with us while we work through the practical implications that need to be addressed following this decision. The first of these is that in early January we will be reimbursing all registration payments, including for those of you who cancelled your registration in advance of this notice. If you booked a 3-day registration, you will be aware that your registration included your EAWOP membership fee until May 2023. We are looking into providing an option to request a partial refund so that you can maintain your membership status.

Please keep safe in these difficult times and we sincerely hope that the world situation will have changed sufficiently that we will be able to meet up in Katowice in 2023 where our next congress is scheduled to run.
